Everything you do impacts someone in some way.
You might be saying, well duh. But I just don’t think we really grasp the kind of influence we have, especially as representatives for Christ. Literally anything we say or do can affect how someone looks at God. It’s a crazy concept.
Lately I’ve been thinking about the things I post on this blog and my social media. I have made it my mission to use these platforms for the glory of Jesus, but sometimes it can feel like I’m talking to no one.
ANYBODY ELSE FEEL THIS WAY?!
It is not easy to live in a world where fame and instant gratification are #1. It has honestly been more of a struggle for me to continue this blog than you might think. I have struggled so much with comparison throughout my life and it’s no different now. I find myself looking at other blogs, other businesses, other girls, and I feel somehow less than because I’m not as well known, or because I’m not as thin. I think about how I don’t have as many friends or as many likes as them. It’s a constant battle and I’m learning to let Jesus fight for me. (Spoiler: He never loses!)
You see, doubt will tell you that the work you put in doesn’t matter and that you’re not impacting anyone’s life. It’ll tell you that your goal isn’t even worth trying to reach because you don’t have as much exposure/fame as the next person. It will tell you to quit before you even get started.
It’s such an easy thing to fall for! You look at all the work you’ve put in, the late hours, the extra prayer time, the money, resources, and energy. Then you look at your life and you see no apparent impact being made. Like no results AT ALL. And you’re like what the heck?! After all I put into this?! It feels like it’s all for nothing....
But don’t go anywhere, hear me out: 🗣ITS NOT FOR NOTHING!!!🗣
Truth is, the little, consistent things you do make a HUGE difference!
I post things about Jesus all the time on social media. But I never thought anyone was really paying attention. And then a couple of instances occurred (over time): A stranger I met at a youth worship night said he recognized me from Instagram, and said I was “inspirational.” Another time a boy told me, “I read your blog, it was very thoughtful.” Someone else reached out to me saying that what I tweeted was exactly what they were feeling. My father read my posts and told me that he was “so proud” of me.
See what I mean?
You’ll never know how your consistency can help someone else unless you CHOOSE to persevere. The little things you do are making a difference in amazing ways, but you won’t know if you quit now!
Hearing how God is using you from other people is such a faith booster, it does wonders for the soul. God sure knows how to pour back into us when we pour into others!
All this reminds me of a verse that is very special to me.
"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin..." ––– Zephaniah 4:10
This verse speaks VOLUMES. I love it because this a constant reminder that even starting is a victory in God’s eyes. He REJOICES when you decide to start. Before you’ve even become successful by the worlds standards, God sees you as a CONQUEROR! let that sink in! It may FEEL like no one sees you, but before you get any human comment, God is right there, saying He’s proud of you.
I wanted to write about this because I’ve seen so many of my old/new peers starting businesses and blogs and so much more. God has blessed me with the ability to relate to people and I have to use it to pour into those around me. I feel like I went all over the place with this LOL, but I pray it encourages you!
Remember: THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER.
